Pros of customer manager driven :
- better match customer expectation, needs
- reduce the incertainty to lanch a product
- more effective mix managment : promotion, place and price

Any pros for the traditional method of product development and marketing? Not that I am a proponent, but that form of business has been around a long time. How did they focus their development and marketing? They didn't just do it in a vacuum.

From a consumer point of view I think it for some product categories could be an advantage when companies applies a traditional approach. With such an approach all the effort is put into developing a product that is of high quality in order to be able to sell it, rather than applying an approach of developing a product that for sure will sell no matter the quality. The latter approach may result in a product of less quality.

Recently, this has become a common trend in the B2B world. In this way, managers encourage customers to move from less-profitable “Brand A” to more-profitable “Brand B”, whereas traditionally, brand manager would encourage customers to stay for their own brand profit.

Pros-take more attention and put more resources on customers
-faster reflection from customers
Cons-decisions about production line would be more complex
Product-manage driven:
Pros-simple and easy to manage because of less outside impacts
-more stable of company’s organization
Cons-less link to market and customers
-reflection of market information would be lag
